A FORMIDABLE CHIN-NA TECHNIQUE AND ITS COUNTERS

Eagle Claw Kungfu

Spiral Hand, or "Chan Xi Shou" in Chinese, is a formidable chin-na technique. It can be countered using a "soft" technique.

Eagle Claw Kungfu is famous for chin-na. A chin-na master should also know the counters to his specialized techniques so that if opponents apply these counters, he will know what to do. Moreover, he wouldn't like to be a laughing-stock caught unprepared by opponents using his own specialized techniques on him. Hence, Eagle Claw Kungfu is also very rich in chin-na counters. A formidable chin-na technique is "chan xi shou" or "spiral hand" (sometimes badly translated as "cocoon hand"). A soft counter and a hard counter against the spiral hand are shown in this series.
