DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GENTLE PHYSICAL EXERCISE AND GENUINE CHI KUNG

The crucial difference between gentle physical exercise and genuine chi kung is that the former has no chi flow but there is chi flow in the later. The techniques are the same.

In other words, practitioners may use the same chi kung techniques to practice gentle physical exercise or to practice genuine chi kung. More than 80% of chi kung practitioners all over the world use chi kung techniques to practice gentle physcial exercise, and they are usually unaware of it, just as more than 90% of Taijiquan practitioners use Taijiquan techniques to practice Taiji dance.

The fundamental requirement to generate a chi flow is to be in a chi kung state of mind. In modern, Western terms, "to be in a chi kung state of mind" is to be in a higher state of consciousness. There are different levels of the chi kung state of mind, but the most fundamental is to be relaxed and to be free of irrelevant thoughts at the same time.
