It depends on whether the woman is skillful in chi kung. If she is skillful, she may practice gentle chi kung, bearing in mind that the needs of her baby and the needs of an adult are different. She should avoid chi kung that generates a lot of movements or a lot of force, and avoid stretching.

Of course, Shaolin Kungfu can be used for fighting. This is fully substantiated in writing and painting. In the 19th and 20th centuries many masters from various countries went to China to test her kungfu, and all of them were convincingly defeated by Chinese masters, most of them using Shaolin Kungfu.

When teaching kungfu, which of course includes Taijiquan, I pay much attention to attaining picture-perfect form, because form is very important. If a practitioner does not have picture-perfect form, he will not have the best advantages for which the form is meant for that particular combat situation.

We may sound boastful, but it is good for our students to know so that they realize how powerful our chi kung is.
