THE PRINCIPLES OF BACK LEG AND SINKING HIPS

Taijiquan, Tai Chi Chuan

This pattern, "Black Bear Sinks Hips", looks simple but contains some profound combat applications

Two important Taijiquan principles, namely "power comes from the back leg" and "sinking the hips", are shown in this video series. These two principles enable a Taijiquan exponent, even without internal force, to apply Taijiquan mechanics to overcome bigger, stronger opponents. Here the principles are implemented in the patterns "Push Boat According to Current" and "Black Bear Sinks Hips".
