ACCOMPLISHED IN ONE BREATH

Shaolin Kungfu

Can you tell what is wrong with this pattern?

Grandmaster Wong explains how to attain picture-perfect form, which includes not only the established pattern but also its transitional movement. An excellent guideline to attain perfect movement is to "start with the back leg, controlled by the waist and completed at the hand" as in "Black Tiger Steals Heart" demonstrated here.

The rotation of the waist generates spiral force to the feet for rooting as well as the punch or striking. When you can perform a single pattern well, you may progress to perform a series of patterns as in Combat Sequence 1. All the patterns in the sequence should be performed in one breath, expressed in an important kungfu saying "yeit hei ho seng" ("yi qi ke cheng" in Mandarin) which means "accomplished in one breath".
