EXPLOITING THE TECHNICAL ADVANTAGES SHAOLIN HAS OVER BOXING
Shaolin movements are technically much faster than Boxing movements
It may be a surprise to many people to know that Shaolin Kungfu is technically faster than Boxing. To execute a strike, for example, a Boxer’s punch has to travel a longer distance than a Shaolin attack. To move the same space, a Boxer needs two or three steps whereas a Shaolin practitioner needs only one.
Grandmaster Wong also shows a common mistake many students make when sparring with a Boxer. They retreat when a Boxer attacks. A better tactic is to stay at your stance and make use of body-movement.
