MAKING GOOD USE OF OUR TECHNICAL ADVANTAGES

Wahnam Taijiquan
Taijiquan is technically faster than Boxing in many ways

It is commonly thought that Taijiquan is slow, and Boxing fast. It may be a surprise to many people that technically Taijiquan is faster than Boxing in many aspects. In footwork, for example, bouncing about is slower than moving in stances. We can cover in one step what a Boxer may need to bounce twice.

Technically faster does not necessarily mean it is actually faster in real life. Although he moves two steps, a skillful Boxer may be actually faster than a Taijiquan practitioner who moves only one step. But when we know our technical advantages and make good use of them, we shall be in a better position to beat a Boxer or any opponent. Our stances and body-movement also give us many technical advantages.
