BASIC PRINCIPLES AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IN PUSHING HANDS

Wahnam Taijiquan
It is very important to protect your groin when pushing an opponent

Although Pushing Hands is very important in Taijiquan, many Taijiquan practitioners are unaware of its principles and safety precautions. Many of them expose themselves to risky attacks where pushing. Before you attempt to push your opponent, it is crucial to close him so that he may not strike you in surprise. You should also push from your back leg, rotate your waist, and ensure your groin and other vital points are protected.
