Combat Quiz Series 4

  1. Strikes (or hand attacks) can come from any directions, but for convenience of study and practice, past masters classified all these directions into four (or five) categories or ways. What are these four (five) directions of striking?

  2. ”Precious Duck Swims Through Lotus” is just one pattern or technique in a certain way of striking. By varying one or both of two factors, we can have a great variety of techniques in the same way of striking. What are these two factors?

Kungfu Terms in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)

Striking = ta; da.
Four (five) ways = Seai (ng) lou; xi (wu) lu.
Free sparring = san ta; san da.
Advantageous situation = tak sai; de shi.
Disadvantageous situation = siat sai; shi shi.
